Good Coffee for a Good Cause

Did you know that the coffee served at Hope is Fair Trade Coffee?  Whenever you reach for a cup of joe, you are part of the Equal Exchange project of the UCC.  The Missions Committee provides our java for coffee hour and you get to help support farmers in Africa and South America provide for their families.  To find out how you can make coffee even more special, please contact the Missions Committee or Tobey Slagenweit at 319-826-8183.

Because Sometimes, Money for Medicine doesn’t grow on trees

We are sure that you have seen the latest project on the Missions Bulletin Board in the Narthex.  April’s focus is on the Cedar Rapids Community Health Clinic.  For almost 20 years, the Community Health Clinic has been partnering with local medical, dental, and eye care providers to provide discount or free care to those in need.

As part of the local missions’ aspect of Hope’s outreach, we are reaching to raise $300 for treatment needs.  By taking a tree of any denomination and dropping the money in the offering plate, you are helping to provide health to your community.  We will be raising funds through the month of April.

Remember, while we are blessed with health and the means to maintain it, sometimes money for medicine doesn’t grow on trees.  For more information, see a member of Missions Committee: Wyatt Dagit, Mike Slagenweit-Coffman, Tobey Slagenweit-Coffman, Karla Grauberger, Betty Hohensee, Nancy Kotalik, Carrie Lane and Deb Wooldridge.
