Pre-Pride Coffee Hour ~ Sunday, June 25

Did you know that the month of June was designated LGBTQ Pride month?  And that the first Pride event ever held was the Stonewall Riots in 1969?  Or did you know that the United Church of Christ was the first Christian tradition to ordain an openly gay man… in 1972?  And that Marriage Equality was endorsed by the General Synod of the UCC in 2005, eleven years before the Supreme Court ruled that LGBTQ couples had a constitutional right to marriage?

These are great questions, but they also leave us with another one—what does this mean for us?

As we celebrate over a year of being an Open and Affirming Congregation, the Welcoming & Hospitality Team will be hosting coffee hour on June 25.  We warmly invite you to a time of fellowship and conversation, but also to invite you to consider how we might also continue to extend hands of welcome to the LGBTQ community.
