Welcoming New Members on Sunday, June 27

On Sunday, June 27, we will welcome two individuals who have found Hope United Church of Christ to be the place that they wish to call their faith community. We are grateful that these individuals have come to join this community as we continue our journey of discipleship through the mission, ministry, programs, and events.

Let us greet:

Sheryl Amos lives at 809 Valley Street, Center Point, which has a large yard and flower beds that she enjoys very much. Sheryl retired from Hy-Vee in 2018 and now works part-time for another company. She enjoys sewing, reading, travel, puzzles and is beginning to learn how to crochet. She also treasures her time with her family, including going to as many activities of her grandchildren as she can. Sheryl also volunteers at St. Luke’s as a Wayfinder when she is able to do so. November 2 will be the date when Sheryl celebrates her next birthday.

Sheryl was a member of Congregational UCC, Iowa City, for 15 years. After making the move to Center Point, she began looking for a church in the area and found Hope UCC.

Jacky Devine makes her home at 108 Fisher Street, Hiawatha, as she moved to the Cedar Rapids area to be closer to her daughters. Jacky enjoys retirement after having been in the pharmacy industry for 50 years. While in retirement, she enjoys her personal interests and hobbies that include: gardening, Bridge, reading, knitting, and enjoying her great grandchildren. Jacky will be celebrating her birthday this summer on August 2.

Jacky was a member of Echo Hill Church, Marion, for two years before being referred to Hope UCC by neighbor.

We are delighted to draw the circle wide as it includes these two individuals who are now among us as members of Hope UCC!
